You have questions and we have answers!

Without question your girls have your back…. especially on your wedding day.  Without a doubt  you’ll want each of them to feel as special as you do on your day.  We get questions every day on the do’s, don’ts and etiquette when it comes to bridal party hair and makeup for your wedding.   So today we’re breaking it down for you.

Are brides expected to pay for bridesmaids hair and makeup?

This is perhaps the #1 question we receive in regards to bridal party hair and makeup. The answer is both simple and complex. It’s a personal choice, but this is what one Las Vegas Wedding photographer had to say… It’s so important that everyone in the formal professional photos have makeup professionally done, “In person, on camera and in editing group photos look zebra striped if a few people have pro makeup and a few people don’t. I can’t correct that, I can’t even pose to that format. Don’t skimp on the makeup. Figure out hair if you have to, but don’t compromise the makeup” says photographer Chelsea Nicole The general rule of etiquette is that If the bride insists on having professional hair and/or makeup done then the bride should cover this cost.  If you have left this as on optional item for your attendants then generally speaking each person should cover their own cost. Rather than thinking of paying for your bridal party’s hair and makeup as an expense in your wedding budget think of it as an insurance policy. By giving each of them the gift of beauty on your day it insures that everyone in your photos will have a cohesive look, minimize editing needs and increases the quality of your photos.   Bonus tip!  It’s a great way to thank your bridal attendants. In lieu of matching robes and other memorabilia you can give them the gif of beauty, a gift that will be admired for generations to come. That gift of course is stunning photographs of the entire day. It’s a win-win scenario!

Are there advantages to hiring an agency vs. a freelance artist or stylist?

Absolutely!  Working with an agency like Makeup In The 702 has several advantages when it comes to working with a larger bridal party.  We have the ability to provide you with multiple teams if needed to minimize the time needed to have everyone in your party ready for photo perfection.  Working with an agency will also save you money when planning your budget.  Having all members of your party in one place saves on travel time, it’s more affordable for the agency to work in one place with several people and that savings is typically passed on to the bride booking the agency.

How much time should I allow in my schedule for my bridal party hair and makeup?

We plan for 30-45 minutes for each service per person, this gives your artist and stylist plenty of time allowing you and your attendants the time you need to create a look that shines for each individual.   As part of the Makeup In The 702 experience you are always provided with both a hair stylist and a makeup artist, which reduces your get ready time.  Both your stylist and your artist are experts in their area, (no one is a jack of all trades) these artists and stylists are continually working on their education, licensing and skill sets to pack their kits for artistry and style.

Do I have to figure out my own timeline and order for may bridal party?

Not when you choose Makeup In The 702!  We’ll help you plan your entire day of bridal beauty and timeline well before your day.  The Makeup In The 702 experience is all about service! Our goal is to make you feel relaxed, comfortable and confident as you begin your day.  Our team is always the first wedding vendor you will encounter on your wedding day putting the pressure on us allows you enjoy your beautiful bridal moments.

Who’s hair and makeup should be done first, the brides or your attendants?

If you plan to do a first look or have photos taken before the ceremony then the bride may elect to go first.  This also gives her plenty of time to greet guests in the bridal suite and answer any questions from family or vendors without her beauty moment being interrupted. Mom may prefer to have her hair and makeup earlier so she’s available to help in other areas or you may have a bridesmaid that has children that may require some extra time to make sure she has someone to watch them so she may prefer to go later in the rotation.  These are just a couple of examples of the scheduling decisions we’ll guide you through to ensure a stress-free experience.

Should hair or makeup be done first?

This is never an issue when you book with Makeup In The 702!  If your makeup is done first your stylist will wait to do your finishing spray after your makeup is complete, conversely, if your hair is done first your makeup artist will not put their hands in your hair and ensure that your foundation is blended to the hairline.

One of my attendants is a man, how can I include him my beauty timeline?

This is a fantastic question!  He may or may not be excited about hanging out in the bridal suite all day but you should definitely ask if he has a need for that day if he would like to be included.  Men are paying more attention to their appearance than ever before and it only makes sense that you’d want to include him.  Perhaps he just needs a little extra staying power or wants to add a little volume to his everyday hair style or maybe he needs some shape and fill to his brows.  If there’s one thing that holds true about beauty today it’s all inclusive and  there are no rules. We hope this helps to answer some of your questions…. we’re always happy to answer more! Ready to get gorgeous?
