We’re pleased to announce the launch of Operators and Entities Ownership Data, a new data product that expands ch-aviation’s coverage across commercial and business aviation. This structured dataset provides detailed ownership insights, offering greater visibility into how operators are positioned commercially and who stands behind them. It enables deeper analysis of operator strategies, corporate structures, and overall market dynamics.

Operators and Entities Ownership Data

Operators & Entities Ownership Data is designed to provide transparency into the ultimate ownership structure of each commercial aviation active operator or aviation-related entity.

Rather than stopping at the immediate parent company, this dataset maps the full ownership structure, providing visibility into holding companies, investor groups, and shareholders behind operators and entities. If we look into an example of American Airlines, it is 100% owned by the American Airlines Group, but the Group itself is held by a diverse range of major institutional investors, asset managers, hedge funds, and other shareholders, which we now identify and list along with their respective ownership stakes.

To establish and validate these ownership relationships, we draw on a wide range of sources, including annual reports, business registries, and our own proprietary news coverage, as well as official company publications, social media disclosures, legal documentation, sanctions lists, stock exchange filings, and information published by international aviation organisations (such as IATA or AFRAA), among others.

Data coverage: We cover data for commercially active operators. Entity ownership is limited to the structure of ownership of the holding company. Meaning, we’re not covering lessor ownership structure under entities, but we’re covering details of American Airlines holding company; or Wizzair holding etc. Currently, we cover operators with 10 aircraft or more.

Government Ownership Data

Additionally, we have included data indicating the percentage of government ownership within each operator or entity. If an airline is owned by multiple governments, the ownership percentages will be summed and displayed as a single value.

This data will be added to the Operator search results & Operators Data Feed.
