LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman is dead and a man was hospitalized after a shooting in the west Las Vegas valley Saturday afternoon, according to Metro police.
On Saturday around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the rear ally of a shopping center in the 4600 block of West Sahara Avenue near Decatur Boulevard. Police received several reports of a woman who was shot on the ground and a man who was shot inside a car rental business.
When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive woman on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Inside the rental car business, police found a man, believed to be in 30s, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he is in critical condition, police said.
Police said the man and woman were inside the rental car business when a white pickup truck pulled into the back ally where the business keeps the rental cars. When the man and the woman exited the business toward the back ally, the suspect got out of his truck and approached the victims, according to police.
The suspect got into a verbal fight with the man during which the suspect pulled out a gun and began shooting at the man. Once the man fell to the ground, the suspect “engaged” with the woman and followed the man inside the business before getting back into his truck and leaving westbound on Sahara Avenue, Metro police said.
Police described the person of interest as a man, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, with a heavy build wearing a long-sleeve black shirt, dark pants, and dark-colored shoes. He was last seen driving a white pickup truck westbound on Sahara Avenue.
Police said this was not a random shooting and the suspect and victims knew each other.
