LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A man’s life was cut short after a car crash as he was driving to work and his partner is asking anyone who may have seen anything to come forward.
Lyndell Nelson, 25, died on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, near the intersection of Clayton Street and Carey Avenue near Simmons Street.
“They say a house is what two people make, but he was the warmth in every room,” Ashley Oliver, Nelson’s partner said. “In the last 10 years, we have gone no longer than three months without speaking to each other.”
Oliver has a ritual of bringing something when she visits Nelson’s makeshift memorial, which she set up at the utility pole where his vehicle crashed. On Thursday, she brought flowers.
“He was a great father, phenomenal father. Hands on father,” Oliver said.
Nelson had a habit of texting his partner when he arrived to work. However, Oliver said she felt a pit in her stomach the morning of Dec. 28. That feeling made her drive around and look for him.
“That next light is the bus station on Citizen [Ave]. So I went up to his job and his manager said that he never made it into work that morning and immediately, I knew that something happened,” Oliver said.
Nelson’s car hit the pole and then caught fire.

The North Las Vegas Police Department stated at the time, it was believed he was speeding.
In an email on Monday, NLVPD told 8 News Now the investigator is waiting to hear back from a potential witness before making a final determination. The officer also hasn’t received the toxicology report.
Oliver said witnesses told her another car was involved but left the scene.
She wants answers that could lead to an arrest for closure.

“We loved each other so much and he loved his family and his children, and I just, I miss him. I miss everything about him. Everything is not the same and I will never be the same,” Oliver said.
North Las Vegas police told 8 News Now they’re encouraging anyone with information on the deadly car crash to call 702-633-9111.
