LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – Local middle school students visit a great community resource that a lot of grownups may have never heard of.
It’s the Lifelong Learning Center from the University of Nevada/Reno Extension, which hosted Canarelli Middle school.
The Center’s Dr. Tricia Braxton said:
“We had several departments represented, including Horticulture, Children Youth and Family, Health and Nutrition, and Business Development.”
They took a tour of the garden there that Dr. Braxton says has1,500 species of plants!
8th grader Tristan was impressed, saying:
“It’s pretty cool. We get to learn about the plants they’re growing here.”
Braxton has high hopes for the future, saying:
“I want this to grow. I want more students to take advantage of community based education.”
Even adults can find helpful resources there.
The Lifelong Learning Center is in the south valley on Windmill just west of the 215 beltway.
