LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The desert sky was ablaze Wednesday with glittering light as Las Vegas hosted its annual tradition of a mind-blowing fireworks spectacular to ring in the new year.

The celebration following the countdown to 2025 saw fireworks launched from the rooftops of 10 landmarks stretched across the entertainment capital of the world, from the world-famous Las Vegas Strip to downtown Vegas.

Resorts hosting fireworks launches included ARIA Resort & Casino, Caesars Palace, Fontainebleau Las Vegas, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Plaza Hotel & Casino, Resorts World Las Vegas, The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower, TI — Treasure Island Hotel & Casino, and The Venetian Resort Las Vegas.

“You’re going to have 340,000 people coming together to celebrate. Nobody’s going to rival that,” explained Steve Hill, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “Then the spectacle of what we have the ability to offer here and bring together to make that really special, and now it’s going to be an all-day event, and that just makes it better.”

The whole event kicked off with a countdown on one of Las Vegas’s newest landmarks, Sphere. Its “Exosphere” consists of approximately 1.2 million LED pucks, which are spaced eight inches apart. Each of those pucks, Sphere Entertainment officials say, is capable of displaying 256 million colors. Together, they represent the largest screen in the world. On New Year’s Eve, the Exosphere’s bright and spherical display kicked off the celebrations with a countdown.
