LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Vice President Kamala Harris will speak at a Las Vegas campaign event on Tuesday, July 9, according to a news release.

Harris will highlight the stakes of the election for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, campaign officials said Friday.

The visit will mark the sixth time Harris has come to Nevada this year, and the 14th since taking office. She was in town Friday, June 28, and spoke the day after the debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

She was quoted in a Wednesday report from The Associated Press as saying Biden’s performance in the debate was “not his finest hour.” However, she said, “The outcome of this election cannot be determined by one day in June.”

That report characterized Harris as trying to hold the line as Democrats worked to stabilize the campaign.

Pressure on Biden has built since the debate, but he said Friday on X, “Let me say this as clearly as I can: I’m the sitting President of the United States. I’m the nominee of the Democratic party. I’m staying in the race.”

Harris was the subject of another AP report on Wednesday that examined whether she could use Biden’s campaign funds if he were to drop out of the race.
