UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea has matched a program milestone set four decades ago by one of college football’s all-time greats.

Colandrea earned his fourth Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week honor today, tying the career conference weekly award record held by Rebel great and College Football Hall of Famer Randall Cunningham.

Colandrea also won the award on consecutive weeks Sept. 1 and 8, then again on Oct. 13.

Colandrea shredded Hawai’i’s defense Friday night, completing 21 of 26 passes for 253 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers in a 38-10 victory. His dual-threat ability has made him one of the nation’s most versatile quarterbacks — he’s one of just four FBS players with at least 2,750 passing yards and 500 net rushing yards.

UNLV (9-2) closed its home schedule with a 5-1 record and now turns its attention to Saturday’s regular-season finale at rival UNR. Game time is 6 p.m.

Cunningham won two awards each during the 1983 and 1984 seasons while starring for UNLV in the old PCAA.
