LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The U.S. Marshals are searching for a man wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in North Las Vegas more than two years ago.
Luis Lopez-Quezada, 51, is considered armed and dangerous and an international flight risk with violent tendencies, according to a wanted poster from the U.S. Marshals Service.
“He is alleged to have killed someone,” Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Raymond Venegas told the 8 News Now Investigators. “If he’s done it once, it’s safe to assume that they probably wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.”
While the North Las Vegas police department revealed few details about the homicide case, the 8 News Now Investigators obtained a report from the Clark County coroner’s office which provided more details about what occurred on Nov. 10, 2022, at a 7-Eleven convenience store.
The alleged victim was identified as 37-year-old Tanoaalii Fetaomi Tevaseu.
Tevaseu tried to use a microwave at the business where he had been previously trespassed, according to the coroner’s report. Lopez-Quezada and Tevaseu ordered and Lopez-Quezada asked Tevaseu to leave, the report stated.
Lopez-Quezada drew his firearm, Tevaseu tried to leave, the pair argued again, Tevaseu threw his bicycle at Lopez-Quezada, and Lopez-Quezada fired one round, striking Tevaseu, according to the report.
Tevaseu had methamphetamine and THC in his system, the report stated.
The 8 News Now Investigators spoke with Akenese Lelei, via Zoom, who said she is Tevaseu’s aunt. She said her nephew had experienced trauma and personal struggles, and she recalled happier times.
“I was sad, of course, because Tanoaalii was very close to me,” LeLei told the 8 News Now Investigators. “He was always respectful to us, the aunties, the uncles, never said no. You ask him to do something. He goes running. He’s always full of joy. He’s always happy. He’s always a jokester.”
Lelei said she hopes her nephew’s killer is found.
Venegas said Lopez-Quezada may have fled to Mexico, has ties to both Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and has not left much of a paper trail.
