LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Former President Donald Trump held a rally Friday in Las Vegas just days after his Wednesday debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Thousands gathered at World Market Center in Downtown Las Vegas as the former president spoke about many topics, including his plans for the country and Nevada ahead of election day in November.
The 45th President of the United States made points regarding immigration policy, saying he wanted to tighten border security and reduce crime. He also discussed his debate performance, a push to eliminate income tax on tips, and a plan to release federal land for housing in a growing Las Vegas valley.
“I will work with you, governor [Lombardo], to open up new tracts of federal land for large-scale housing construction, and you’ll get it from a much lower price,” Trump said. “More than 80% of all land in Nevada is owned by the federal government. Governor Lombardo has sent three letters to the Biden-Harris administration, asking them to open up some of this land to help alleviate the crisis, but Kamala and Crooked Joe did not even have the decency to reply to those requests.”
President Trump was joined onstage by supporters, including U.S. Senate candidate Sam Brown and former U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard. They spoke about their plans to eliminate taxes on Social Security. Other topics included how to cut down on local energy costs in Nevada.
The former President discussed tariffs, detailing that under his plans, factories that open in the U.S. would not have to pay them, while countries like China would. Trump said this would encourage more production of goods in the U.S.
Those who attended the rally said they had to wait outside for a few hours, adding that temperatures were mild Friday, making the wait less inconvenient. The event lasted approximately four hours.
The former president has stops scheduled in Glendale, Arizona, and Flint, Michigan.
