UPDATE: The power outage reported on Friday night appeared to have been removed from NV Energy’s outage page around 7 p.m. and the power appeared to be restored in the area around the same time. Still no word on a cause or if any customers remain without power.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – NV Energy reported an outage affecting more than 7,000 customers near the downtown Las Vegas area.

The outage occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Friday along Charleston Boulevard and Fremont Street, according to NV Energy’s website.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue asked the public to avoid the area.

NV Energy is aware of the situation and has assigned technical support staff to address the issue, according to LVFR.

The cause is under investigation and no other information was released.
