Don’t Miss Out! “The Pajama Game” Starts in July

  • Saturday, July 12, 19, & 26 @ 7 PM

“The Pajama Game” was awarded the 1955 Tony for Best Musical and, over half a century later, claimed the award for Best Revival of a Musical, proving that the story is truly timeless. With an energetic score by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross (Damn Yankees), “The Pajama Game” is brimming with songs and dances that have become musical theatre standards, including “Steam Heat” and “Hernando’s Hideaway.”

Conditions at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory are anything but peaceful as sparks fly between new superintendent, Sid Sorokin, and Babe Williams, leader of the union grievance committee. Their stormy relationship comes to a head when the workers strike for a 7 ½ cent pay increase, setting off not only a conflict between management and labor, but a battle of the sexes as well.

– All Seats: $35
– Students 18 and younger: $20

A Bittersweet Salute to EDO Tapas & Wine
Since 2018, EDO Tapas & Wine in the Mountain View Plaza has been the heart of Chinatown Vegas’s dining scene, turning a strip mall into a global culinary destination. Chef Roberto Amador’s James Beard-nominated tasting menus—think flaky patatas bravas and playful egg dishes—earned Yelp’s Top 100 Southwest Restaurants in 2023 and a loyal following. As EDO closes this fall (Eater Vegas, June 27, 2025), we honor its iconic legacy on Spring Mountain Road. The team’s next venture, Braseria, a French brasserie, will open east of the Strip at the Collective near the Convention Center.

This Week in Chinatown and the entire Chinatown Fam, let’s raise a glass to EDO’s unforgettable flavors and wish the team a dazzling new chapter!

🚦 Chinatown Gripes

The Gripes Remain the Same in This Week in Chinatown: Traffic Woes Continue to Plague
Traffic woes continue to challenge both residents and visitors in Las Vegas’ Chinatown, with inefficient traffic light timers topping the list of concerns. Across the city, Las Vegas drivers endure more wasted time idling at signals than anywhere else in the nation—a problem that hits hard in Chinatown. For example, the traffic light timer at Tenaya gives just a 10-second window before 5 AM, causing unnecessary delays. A 1.5-mile drive from Starbucks to Desert Breeze Park can take up to 25 minutes at 4 AM due to long waits at lights, frustrating early risers, and late-night explorers.

Making left turns is another hurdle, especially at busy intersections and out of bustling malls like Shanghai Plaza. Navigating across four lanes to turn left disrupts traffic flow, impacting visitors and tourists alike. Ferocious potholes near McDonald’s leading to Lindell Road jolt drivers, while a blinding, strobe-like parking lot light near One Piece Cafe disrupts the area’s ambiance.

This Week in Chinatown Cones

This Week in Chinatown: The unofficial state bird: The Traffic Cone

Most critically, Spring Mountain Road’s 45 mph speed limit feels dangerously high with millions of tourists visiting Chinatown each year, riddled with potholes and heavy pedestrian activity. Meanwhile, Twain Avenue, a short block south, has a 30/35 mph speed limit from Valley View to Rainbow yet sees hardly any foot traffic. Why the disparity when Chinatown’s bustling streets need safer speeds?

Authorities must act! Hiring a traffic consultant and implementing intelligent sensor technology for dynamic signal recalibration could fix timers. Re-evaluating left-turn permissions from plazas, fixing potholes, and addressing lighting issues are urgent. Lowering Spring Mountain’s speed limit to 35 mph is critical to protect our community. Share your traffic experiences and ideas with @ChinatownVegas! 🚗
