Las Vegas Aviators pitcher Jack Perkins took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of his most recent start, continuing a stretch of strong play that earned him the Pacific Coast League’s Pitcher of the Week honor for the second straight week.
Perkins allowed one run in pitching into the seventh inning Thursday against the Salt Lake Bees, striking out 12 batters and walking just two in earning the victory.
Perkins has a 0.79 earned run average over his last two starts with 22 strikeouts. Opponents have just four hits in 38 plate appearances.
Perkins, who Baseball America ranks as the Athletics’ No. 4 prospect, has a 2-2 record and 3.23 earned run average in eight starts this season with Triple-A Las Vegas. The 25-year-old was a fifth round pick in 2022.
Perkins’ strong pitching has helped the Aviators win eight straight games. They sit in first place of the 10-team Pacific Coast League with a 44-24 record.
The Triple-A franchise is the top minor league affiliate of the Athletics, who in 2028 will call the Las Vegas Strip home.
