LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — It’s a mix of mostly high clouds and sunshine with extra-mild 70s to start off the last Thursday of May.

The air is dry, and winds will stay on the lighter side Thursday with high temperatures near 100 degrees. Hotter temps will show up on Friday and Saturday, kicking off the first Heat Warning of the year.
Morning clouds are sliding in from the south from a system near Baja and will keep coming most of the day. Arizona will get the lion’s share of the heavier cloud cover, while southern Nevada will enjoy a fair amount of sunshine and hot temps near the century mark. As clouds disappear Friday, hotter temps show up, reaching near records for a few days. Valley temps will range from 102 to 107 on Friday and Saturday, with highs near 110 along the Colorado River, and up to 115 at Death Valley.
Heat Warning begins Friday at 9 a.m. and lasts until Saturday at 11 p.m. for all areas of Southern Nevada below 4000 feet, and southeast California
The system over Baja will combine with tropical moisture from a cyclone in the eastern Pacific that could become Tropical Storm Alvin – the first named storm of the year for the Pacific Hurricane season. As that moisture moves north into the desert this weekend, increasing clouds begin Saturday, then chances for rain and thunderstorms later Sunday through Monday. Gusty southwest winds are also expected, and temperatures will cool to near 90 by Monday. Rainfall amounts will likely be less than a tenth of an inch for most areas.
A third system will move in from the Pacific Northwest and bring even cooler air and breezy winds on Tuesday and Wednesday, as highs fall to the 80s. Temps will rebound quickly to the 90s by Thursday.
