LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 16-year-old was thrown off his bike in the southeast Las Vegas valley, leaving him in critical condition.

According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the crash happened just after 8 p.m. at the intersection of Del Santos Drive and El Pastor Lane.

Police said the 16-year-old was riding a Coleman mini bike eastbound on Del Santos Drive when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign. He continued through the intersection, hit the east curb, and was thrown off the bike upon impact.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and took the rider to a nearby hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Police said no other vehicles or people were involved, and impairment does not appear to be a factor.

This incident remains under investigation by Metro’s Collision Investigation Section.
