LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A cat found on the street in the central Las Vegas valley needs the community’s help after his rescuers discovered he is missing his tongue.

The humans who found Snowball say he is an animal with a true will to live. The cat was found on the street with an unimaginable condition: he had no tongue.

“It’s like, how is he eating?” said Sarah Harper, who found Snowball. “How is he even drinking water?” Harper said Snowball was one of more than a dozen cats found living in a colony near Paradise Road and Karen Avenue. Several were placed up for adoption, others were sent to foster homes, or treated and released. Snowball, however, needed help.

“The vet came out, and she was floored,” Harper recalled. “She said it was an absolute miracle. This is insane. He has no tongue.”

Harper said Snowball and his bonded brother Thomas, who also needs more medical care, are set to live at The Poppy Foundation, a special sanctuary for special needs cats. However, Harper said she and The Poppy Foundation need financial help because, like most other rescues across the valley, they are overrun with unwanted pets.

“It has to do with the economy,” Harper said. “A lot of people just say I can’t feed anymore, so they just dump them.”

Harper said she is doing what she can to help Snowball and Thomas land in the right spot.

“They are out of space, time, and money,” she said, speaking about The Poppy Foundation. “So what they need for me is to raise at least $5,000 to cover their lifetime expenses.”

She said she hopes anyone who sees Snowball’s story will be inspired to be a part of his new start.

“He wants to live. That’s the key part,” Harper concluded. “He really wants to live.”

Harper started this GoFundMe for Snowball for anyone wanting to help with his journey to a new beginning.
