LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A small plane skidded into a ditch adjacent to the runway at Henderson Executive Airport in the southwest Las Vegas valley Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday when airport officials said the Malibu 171 aircraft ended up in the ditch. Officials said the three individuals were able to leave the plane safely. Fire crews and airport personnel were on site after the incident.
No information was immediately available as to whether the plane’s occupants were injured or the cause of the crash.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the Henderson Executive Airport is a “small to medium-sized” airport with two parallel runways and “supports a large helicopter population.”
It’s not the first hard landing at Henderson Executive Airport. In 2019 a Cessna 182’s landing gear collapsed. That landing didn’t injure anyone but the aircraft sustained minor damage. Just days earlier, a plane taking off from the airport had mechanical issues just after takeoff, crashing just south of the airport and killing two.
