Dave Goucher

Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas Golden Knights play-by-play broadcaster Dave Goucher calls a game from Feb. 12, 2019 against the Arizona Coyotes at T-Mobile Arena.

Could there be a new voice calling Vegas Golden Knights games next season?

According to a story published by the Boston Globe on Saturday, the New England Sports Network and Boston Bruins have reached out to Vegas Golden Knights TV play-by-play announcer Dave Goucher to fill the position on Bruins TV broadcasts.

Goucher has been with the Golden Knights since their inaugural season, joining the broadcast crew in 2017. His voice has become a staple for Golden Knight fans and the only one they’ve known.

Before arriving in Las Vegas, Goucher was the Bruins’ radio play-by-play announcer from 2000 to 2017. He won multiple regional awards for his work.

Goucher is from Pawtucket, R.I., and is a graduate of Boston University.

The search for a new play-by-play announcer comes after Jack Edwards’ 17-year run with the Bruins came to an end this spring.

The prospect of Goucher leaving the Golden Knights organization adds to the many possible changes coming this summer.

Golden Knights leading scorer Jonathan Marchessault said Tuesday the team had still not reached out to him about a new contract.

Marchessault is an unrestricted free agent and if the Golden Knights want to keep him, they will need to sign him to a new contract by the end of this month.

Vegas is still substantially over the salary cap and would need to let a number of free agents go to keep Marchessault.

The Golden Knights have not made any roster changes since the end of their season.
