LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly come to terms in an agreement with veteran head coach Pete Carroll to lead the team in the 2025-26 season.
The report, which comes from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, cites sources saying that the agreement is a three-year deal with an option for a fourth year.
The 73-year-old head coach last led the Seatle Seahawks in the 2023 campaign, in which the team finished 9-8. During his 14-year tenure with Seattle, Carroll led the team to two NFC championships and the franchise’s only Super Bown title. According to Seahawks owner Jody Allen, Carroll was fired as head coach but remained with the organization as an advisor.
Carroll will now lead the new-look Raiders, a team with a new general manager, former Bucs assistant GM John Spytek, and a high-profile minority owner in Tom Brady. The Raiders fired coach Antonio Pierce after going 4-13 in his first full season. Pierce was 5-4 as an interim coach in 2023 after replacing Josh McDaniels.
Carroll becomes the team’s 14th head coach since Jon Gruden was traded to Tampa Bay in 2002. He won an NFL championship with the Seahawks in 2014, defeating the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII, has four Rose Bowl victories with Southern California, and has various coach of the year awards. Carroll also won a college football championship as coach of USC.
