LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — NV Energy customers can give feedback on a proposed 9 percent rate increase during two upcoming consumer sessions scheduled by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN).
According to NV Energy officials, the increase is due to 2024’s heat wave, where there were several days of record-high temperatures.
In its application for the increase, NV Energy proposed to increase annual revenues by $15.7 million, or 9 percent. If approved, NV Energy said it would increase a typical monthly single-family bill by nearly $15 beginning Oct. 1, 2025, according to the PUCN.
The PUCN scheduled two sessions where ratepayers can make public comments.
CONSUMER SESSIONS:
- Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Public Utilities Commision of Nevada, Hearing Room A, located at 9075 West Diablo Drive, Suite 250, Las Vegas, NV 89148
- Wednesday, June 6, at 6 p.m. at the Clark County Commission Chambers, located at 500 South Grand Central Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89106
NV Energy also proposes implementing a low-income residential rider that waives the basic $20 monthly service charge.
In addition, the company is proposing a “demand charge” to recover the cost associated with spikes in energy use.
There’s also a proposal — for new rooftop solar customers — that would change how their solar power is billed. The credit solar customers would receive would change from monthly to per 15-minute.
The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada can approve, deny, or change the proposals. For those who can’t attend the consumer sessions, written comments can be sent via mail.
