LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — President Joe Biden is in Las Vegas — back on the campaign trail — after pausing his campaign after an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Biden is trying to shore up Black and Latino Nevada voters during his two-day visit.
Former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden are in a tight race to win the battleground state. Most polls have shown that Trump and Biden are in a neck-to-neck race. Minority voters could give Biden the edge.
On Tuesday morning, Biden will speak at the 115th NAACP National Convention at Mandalay Bay. He is expected to announce efforts to lower housing costs by limiting rent increases and building more homes.
Later on Tuesday, he will attend the Vote to Live Prosperity Summit at an undisclosed location in North Las Vegas where he is expected to discuss economic opportunities, and Wednesday, Biden will speak at the UnidosUS Annual Conference around noon at the MGM Grand Conference Center.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released a statement that it’s “working in tandem with our federal partners to prepare for President Joe Biden’s visit to Las Vegas. LVMPD has added extra resources to security details for each of the locations President Biden intends to visit.”
Police said there will be an increased presence of officers throughout the valley and motorists should be prepared for road closures as Biden moves between locations until he leaves on Wednesday after his last appearance.
Las Vegas police are also asking the community if they “See Something, Say Something.” Any suspicious activity can be reported to the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center at (702) 828-7777.
