LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A resident who lives near the scene of what police are calling a possible deadly road rage shooting said the investigation may include at least one person who ran from the scene, the 8 News Now Investigators have learned.
A person called police around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, to report they were taking their friend, a passenger who had been shot, to the hospital, police said.
The Clark County coroner later confirmed the identity of the shooting victim as Dasjan Winn, 35. His cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound of the head with the manner being homicide. Video of a dark-colored truck was released by Las Vegas Metropolitan police who said it’s connected to the shooting.
On Friday, a man who lives in the area of Alta Drive and Jones Boulevard, where police said the shooting happened, said police came to his door to ask for video from his home’s surveillance cameras.
“Apparently he ran through my backyard,” Stafford Singleton, the neighbor, said. “We didn’t get any footage of it though.”
Police alerted the public to be on the lookout for the a pick-up truck they described as dark in color, possibly blue, Chevrolet driven by a man with brown hair and glasses.
However, Singleton said police asked him about a person who ran from the scene of the shooting, which police said began with a verbal altercation between occupants of the two pick-up trucks. Police said an exchange of gunfire led to the fatal shooting.
As one pick-up truck drove southbound down Jones Boulevard, Singleton said police told him there may have been multiple people trying to escape the scene – both by a driver and possibly a runner.
“I was looking at my ring camera and I was like, ‘Oh the police are here, interesting,'” Singleton, who has lived in that home for about five years, said.
