If I recall correctly, Caesar’s Sportsbook had worse odds than BetMGM, FanDuel, and DraftKings on the same games. That probably had more impact than the advertising, which is incredible because Caesar’s basically giving tier credits away for nothing in 2022. You have many people becoming Seven Stars just from mobile sports betting in 2022 and early 2023, yet Caesar’s still couldn’t move the needle against Draftkings and FanDuel, let alone outpace BetMGM.
When you look at the advertising, 2 years ago one was always viewing a Caesar’s Sportsbook commercial that had JB Smoove, the Mannings, and Halle Berry. Even Vince Vaughn was included in a JB Smoove/Halle Berry/The 4 Mannings commercial. In 2022, the Mannings were the hot thing with their alternate Monday Night Football telecast and still are with their Quarterback and Receiver series on Netlix. Now you have Vince Vaughn recently doing a BetMGM commercial with Tom Brady for the 2024 SuperBowl, but this is not early 2000s Vince Vaughn with his A list star power. Before Barstool/Penn Entertainment sold out to ESPN to become ESPN, one consistently saw the Caesar’s Sportsbook chalice logo on the ESPN Bottom Ticker back in 2021, 2022, and early 2023.
If we were talking DraftKings, I could agree about Kevin Hart because he is pretty much an A-lister right now with him doing an Olympics show, still doing movies, and every 10 minutes I see a DraftKings commercial when I am watching CBS Sports HQ. However, I doubt Jamie Foxx, Kevin Garnett, Wayne Gretzky, and Connor McDavid have the star power to influence more people to place bets with BetMGM over Caesar’s Sportsbook.
