Las Vegas (KLAS)– A pedestrian was hospitalized after a suspected DUI crash in the southwest Las Vegas valley Friday night.
Around 11:30 p.m., Metro police responded to a report of a crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian at the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue.
Police said evidence at the scene and witness statement showed that a Lexus GS350 was driving at a high rate of speed southbound on Decatur Boulevard approaching a green light when a Chevrolet Malibu was stopped northbound on Decatur at a red left turn signal.
The crash occurred when police said the driver of the Chevrolet ran the red light and made a left turn, entering the path of the Lexus. The Lexus hit the Chevrolet causing it to redirect and hit a pedestrian who was standing on the sidewalk, police said.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The drivers of both vehicles were also taken to the hospital.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Jessica Carreon, 35, showed signs of impairment and was arrested for DUI-related charges. She is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday.
