LAS VEGAS (KLAS) —  A pedestrian was killed in the Las Vegas valley after a crash on Friday night.

On Saturday, around 10:30 p.m. Las Vegas Metropolitan police responded to a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of west Sahara Avenue east of south Valley View Boulevard.

Police said evidence at the scene and witness statements showed a 2010 Lexus RX was traveling westbound on Sahara Avenue, near Valley View Boulevard, when a pedestrian in an electric wheelchair crossed its path.

The front right of the Lexus struck the right side of the wheelchair, causing the pedestrian to be redirected onto the roadway. The Lexus then came to a controlled stop from the collision site, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead despite medical efforts.

The driver of the Lexus stayed on the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

This is an ongoing investigation
