LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Those who live in the Anthem area in Henderson are gearing up for some change as road improvements begin Monday.
The improvements will take place on Eastern Avenue between Horizon Ridge Parkway and Sun City Anthem Drive. Some of the changes include sidewalk ramp assessments to new pavement striping, signage upgrades and water valve and utility improvements.
People who live in the area said they are pleased to see the City of Henderson taking the initiative.
“As you’re going towards Anthem Drive, it’s really rocky and there are a lot of potholes so I feel like that’s a good place to start,” longtime resident, Asia Duncan shared with 8 News Now.
Eastern Avenue will remain open in both directions during construction.
Longtime resident Ben Liu said with the upcoming construction, he will look for other routes to take.
“It’s going to add 10 to 15 minutes to my morning commute so it’s definitely going to be inconvenient,” he added.
Construction is expected to last through November, however, there will be no daytime work done north of the Anthem Parkway split until the school year ends.
