LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The countdown to Election Day in Nevada is officially near as early voting ends on Friday. Early voters shared the process with 8 News Now on Monday.
“It was important for me to vote early. I wanted my vote to count the first second the polls are closed,” Rolly Moe told 8 News Now.
Young voters such as Bryce Philbeck and Levi Necas wanted to make their voices heard as it was the first time they could vote.
“I think it’s very important to vote here because it is a swing state,” Philbeck said. “I guess I have like a say now, so I kind of wanted to go and put my say out there,” Necas added.
As for others who decided to venture out early, they said it’s all about convenience.
“Part of it is time for me to be able to have the access to vote and it’s easier for me to do it now than waiting until the last minute,” Shoib Myint said.
While others shared that safety is of top concern in their decision to vote early.
I’m not sure how actual Election Day will be and honestly, I don’t feel comfortable going out on Election Day,” Carmencita Labrake said. “I just don’t know how people’s attitudes and feelings are going to be and I’ve never been harassed in line, but that thought goes through my head.”
Governor Joe Lombardo announced that a limited number from the National Guard will be on standby on Election Day to assist law enforcement with security preparations and support if needed.
