LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Big changes are on the horizon for The Neon Museum as it announced relocation and expansion plans on Wednesday.
The museum will relocate to the downtown Las Vegas Arts District and nearly triple the size of its current location.
The Neon Museum’s executive director is expected to discuss in more detail about the plans on Thursday.
The museum will conduct due diligence on two sites with the first being a 60,000-square-foot outdoor display space and 47.000 square feet for an indoor area on the 9th and 10th floors of a proposed parking garage and a second location nearby with 35,000 square feet of programmable space.
The Neon Museum currently resides on a 2.27-acre campus located at 770 Las Vegas Boulevard near Bonanza Road and was founded in 1996. It currently has an outdoor exhibition space known as the Neon Boneyard; the North Gallery which offers visitors a special evening experience called “Brilliant!” which re-illuminates more the 40 non-operational signs as well as a visitor’s center.
