LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 63-year-old man died one week after he was hit by a Tesla while riding a scooter in the southwest Las Vegas valley.

According to the Clark County Coroner’s Office, the man was hit on Friday, Feb. 21, and succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, Feb. 28, despite life-saving efforts.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that the crash occurred on West Hacienda Avenue, west of South Decatur Boulevard. Authorities stated that the scooter rider was crossing Decatur Boulevard outside of a marked or implied crosswalk when he entered the path of the Tesla.

The impact caused the man to be thrown off his scooter and onto the roadway, police said. Emergency responders took the man to a nearby hospital, where he was initially reported to be in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Police confirmed that the Tesla driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

This incident marks the 34th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2025.
