LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is in critical condition, and impairment is suspected as a factor after a vehicle crashed into a block wall at high speed on Friday, police said.

At around 11:30 p.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the vehicle crash near McLeod Drive and Palma Vista Avenue, close to East Desert Inn Road.

According to police, a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling southbound on McLeod Drive when the driver lost control south of the intersection. The vehicle spun out, left the roadway, and crashed with a wall before overturning. Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene and took the driver, Andres Hernandez, 30, to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said that speed and impairment are suspected of contributing to the crash. Hernandez, who remains in critical condition, now faces multiple criminal charges, according to the police report.
