LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is dead after a suspected DUI hit-and-run crash in the northeast Las Vegas valley.
On Saturday around 5:40 a.m., Metro police responded to the area of Marion Drive and Flippin Street near Nellis Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue after a report of a crash.
Evidence at the scene and witness statement showed that a 1996 Ford Ranger was traveling northbound on Marion Drive when it hit a man in the road. The Ford failed to stop and left the scene, police said.
The 48-year-old pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Metro detectives later found the Ford and its driver, who displayed signs of impairment. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Alfredo Jauregui, was arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center on DUI and hit-and-run charges, police said.
This death marks the 114th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2024.
