Man wanted following February 2023 incident, warrant says
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police in Massachusetts arrested a man last week who was wanted for allegedly passing two bad checks at a Las Vegas casino worth $1.5 million, the 8 News Now Investigators have confirmed.
Daniel Burrell was wanted on charges of drawing and passing a check without sufficient funds, obtaining money under false pretenses, and theft, a warrant filed from Las Vegas Metro police said. In the document, police allege Burrell passed two bad checks at the Bellagio Las Vegas in February 2023.
Police in Nantucket, Massachusetts, said officers arrested Burrell on the warrant Friday. He was released on a $10,000 bond, records said.
Officers on the island provided Burrell’s address, which matches a mansion that was sold at auction the day before.
Records show an attorney for Burrell requested a judge grant his client a “walk-through,” meaning he surrenders to the Clark County Detention Center to take a booking photo and leaves.
On Tuesday, a judge ordered the arrest warrant be reissued, records said. A hearing was scheduled for Oct. 9.
Burrell, an investor with properties across the United States, served as a senior advisor to former Democratic Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry in his 2002 Senate and 2004 presidential campaign, the Huffington Post reported.
