After less than a year open, Ortikia Mediterranean Grill at Green Valley Ranch Resort is closing. The restaurant, which opened in summer 2024, is known for its swanky design with playful marine-inspired murals, a display of fresh fish prime for grilling, an open kitchen, and a centerpiece multi-tiered wood fire grill. The resort shared news of the closure with Eater on Thursday, April 17, but did not provide a date for the closure “The company reached a mutual agreement with Blue Ribbon Restaurants to close Ortikia Mediterranean Grill at Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino,” says Ken Janssen, vice president and general manager of Green Valley Ranch in a statement. A representative added that Ortikia employees are encouraged to apply within the company and are being connected with our internal recruiters.

The restaurant from Blue Ribbon Restaurants and Station Casinos opened in June on the heels of Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill’s debut. It introduced a new category of dining at the Henderson casino, featuring mezze starters of hummus and tzatziki, platters of oysters and tuna tartare prepared at a crudo bar, and salt-baked whole branzino served with lemon and capers.

From the dining room at Ortikia Mediterranean Grill, wisps of flame can be seen in the open kitchen. Tiers of racks over the grill nestle cuts of lamb, filets of salmon, and roasted beets. An adjacent hearth makes for a rotisserie. For a special dinner on Friday, March 28 in which Blue Ribbon’s chef Bruce Bromberg collaborated with Top Chef’s Sheldon Simeon, the hearth made for a spectacular visual, slow-cooking an entire lamb on a spit.

For now, it looks like fans of Ortikia have a little more time to enjoy roasted carrots with tahini yogurt and Greek seafood stew with orzo and octopus before its closure. There is no news yet on what will replace the restaurant at the Henderson resort.
