LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Avid bike rider Andrea Ashie celebrated National Bike Month in style, decked out in her neon glowsticks ahead of the Glow Bike Ride on the River Mountain Loop Trail Saturday evening.
“You have to know your equipment and your gear. When the time comes, it’s important our son knows the capacity of his machine,” Ashie said, referring to her son’s e-bike.
Located near Equestrian Park, the “Light up the night, glow bike ride” event had dozens show up to ride from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Ashie noted that with the amount of bike fatalities across the valley in recent months, she is pleased that Clark County is enforcing stricter laws when it comes to e-bikes and scooters.
“I think we are on the right path,” Ashie added. “Our legislators see that there are more bikes out on our roadways now so having better laws and regulation is a must for everyone’s safety.”

Other glow riders like Frank Diskin who rode his scooter through the trail said he often times has to keep his head on a swivel while out and about.
“It makes me want to be more cautious. Just be careful because it’s the other guy that doesn’t see me and that’s usually why the accident happens,” Diskin shared with 8 News Now.
In addition, the family-friendly night ride event featured bike decorating and a safety course for children.
