LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police were not breaching the apartment unit of Tifnie Bobbit but she, her mother, her son’s friend, and their pug Lucy hit the floor before they heard the flashbang.

“I saw SWAT out,” Bobbit said. “We were told to stay in our homes and not mess around.”

The Las Vegas Metropolitan police confirmed to 8 News Now the breach of the Desert Sage apartment unit in connection to a fatal shooting early Sunday morning.

Bobbit, whose unit was adjacent to the room raided by police, said she was thankful her son’s friend made use of his military background to keep them calm during the breach next door and help up her mother, while Lucy the pug bolted around the room.

“My mom can barely get up,” she said. “And Lucy, she was just running around while we all just stayed close to the ground.”

The breach followed reported issues with street racing and property damage from a nearby homeless population, according to Bobbit.

“The kids are always racing up and down and doing donuts,” Bobbit said. “Being loud.”

Residents told 8 News Now the early morning shooting of a male victim was followed by a woman screaming, one resident said they shared a home security audio recording with LVMPD.
