LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police were on the scene of a barricade involving a person with a knife in the southeast valley.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said it started as an “incident” between two people in the 3700 block of Gershon Court, near East Twain and South Eastern avenues at around 9:30 a.m.

During the incident, one of the people pulled out a knife and threatened the other person. The person armed with the knife then went inside a residence.

Officers attempted to get the person to exit the house but were unsuccessful, and the incident was deemed a barricade. SWAT and crisis negotiations showed up on the scene.

Shortly before 1 p.m., police said the person was taken into custody.

Police ask that the public avoid the area due to a large police presence.
