LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An alleged impaired driver — who Las Vegas police rescued from a burning car that crashed into a wall — later told officers that he had “too many” previous DUI arrests.
Prosser Kenneth faces charges including DUI with a prior felony DUI and driving without a license, records said.
On Nov. 25, a person called 911 reporting a driver appeared unconscious after colliding with a wall near Lamb Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, documents said. The driver appeared to be pressing the car’s accelerator pedal after the engine was revving and the tires were spinning, starting a fire.
An officer had to break a window to pull the driver out of the burning car, documents said. The man was not responsive until a paramedic administered Narcan, the opioid overdose antidote.
Inside the car, officers said they found “several open cans” of beer and empty hard liquor bottles. Officers suspect Kenneth also ingested drugs before the crash.
A check of the driver’s history determined his Utah license was suspended, police said. It also revealed a recent DUI conviction in Utah.
“When asked about his previous [record], he stated that there were too many throughout the years,” police said.
During Kenneth’s first court appearance on Nov. 27, Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Rebecca Saxe set bail at $22,000. The court later released Prosser because prosecutors did not file a criminal complaint against him. The delay in common in DUI-related cases as investigators await a defendant’s blood results.
A future court date was scheduled for January.
