LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro police arrested the man they say is responsible for a deadly stabbing in the east valley earlier in the week.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19 at around 11:45 a.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 6800 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard near North Hollywood Boulevard after a report of a stabbing.
Arriving officers found a man who looked like he had been battered. When officers started removing his clothing they noticed that he had been stabbed multiple times. The man was then taken to a hospital where staff pronounced him dead.
Through the investigation, detectives determined the victim was involved in a fight with a man who was later identified as Jose Escamilla, 33. During the fight, Escamilla allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the victim before running away from the scene, police said.
On Wednesday, Nov. 20, the Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested Escamilla. Police then booked him into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of open murder and battery with a deadly weapon.
The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the
Clark County Coroner’s Office.
