LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro police made an arrest Thursday night in the case of a dog thrown into a dumpster and abandoned, law enforcement sources tell 8 News Now.
Alexis Flores, 30, faces three counts of an animal-abuse-related charge.
Animal Protection Services responded to the call about an animal abuse incident around 9 a.m. Monday at the 5500 block of Sheila Avenue, near Jones Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue. Video shows a man, wearing red shorts and no shirt, getting out of a vehicle, grabbing the small dog by the neck and “forcefully” throwing it into the dumpster, investigators said.
A neighbor found the dog on Tuesday, 8 News Now reported that day. The dog was recovering and was “doing fine,” police said Wednesday.
8 News Now spoke with two people Thursday who offered a reward leading to an arrest.
Flores was due to make his initial court appearance Friday afternoon.
