LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Firefighters are being sent to Southern California to help fight the out-of-control wildfires that have charred thousands of acres and destroyed more than 1,000 structures in Los Angeles County.

The four fires are being fueled by powerful winds and dry conditions. During a morning news conference, a fire official said there are not enough firefighters in L.A. County to fight all these fires.

Clark County’s Office of Emergency Management said it’s organizing a strike team after receiving a request for help from the state of California Wednesday morning. Engines and personnel from Las Vegas valley fire departments are expected to leave for California on Wednesday afternoon.
