BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s office has identified a Las Vegas man who drowned at Buena Vista Lake following the Lightning in a Bottle music festival.

The coroner said Steven Lee Macwithey II, 38, of Las Vegas was swimming in the lake with other festival goers on Monday, May 27 when he drowned. The incident was reported around 4:48 p.m.

Medical aid was given to Macwithey, but it was not enough to save his life. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

The office will release Macwhithey’s official cause and manner of death at a later date.
