LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – It’s the busiest time of year for the United States Postal Service. Carriers are working 12-hour days six days a week to spread the holiday cheer.
Each day Monday through Saturday USPS couriers such as Gloria Garcia bring mail to your home and hundreds of others.
“We go door to door. So it’s roughly like three to 400,” Garcia said.
During the holiday season, the post office sees a massive influx of shipping and travel. Garcia recommends setting up a mail hold for those headed out of town. For those unable to be home during delivery they can come back at a specific time through redelivery.
For those staying home, Garcia asks that you leave the lights on and keep an eye on your dogs.
While the sleigh and reindeer are the usual image of gift delivery, the mail van is making the rounds during December.
“You can see how their face light up, especially for the kids because they’re like in the window waiting for the package,” Garcia said. “So they say, ‘mailman is here!’ they run and they want to open the package right there.”
Garcia added that couriers are ready to deliver rain, shine, or snow if the area gets any.
