LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Lights FC will be looking for a new place to call home and the team’s current home pitch at Cashman Center was sold to an investor.
Lights owner Jose Bautista has two years left on his current lease, so after the 2026 season, he may be forced out. The 44-year-old former baseball all-star is already planning ahead.
“We have been working as a team already with city officials, county officials and even the state in some instances to try to find a new home,” Bautista said. “It was already in our plan.”
The Lights are looking at the USL’s Louisville stadium as a blueprint. The $65 million price tag for the Lynn Family stadium, completed in 2020, is in line with what the Lights owner has in mind for Las Vegas. That facility seats 16,000.
“I think we have a very, very attractive opportunity, not only because of what our team offers and what USL is doing and what sort is happening with soccer in North America,” Bautista said. “But what Las Vegas is as the North American New Mecca of professional sports and, you know, soccer is no different and we’re not going to be left behind in the dust.”
The Lights FC owner has spoken with state, county and city leaders about his stadium plans. Bautista has looked at numerous stadium sites but isn’t ready to reveal his favorite location yet. Once ground is broken, a 16,000-seat stadium will take approximately two years to complete.
