LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — On Sunday in the Las Vegas valley, a car caught on fire inside a garage, resulting in the death of six cats and an estimated loss of $100,000, according to fire officials.

On Aug. 25, around 9:30 a.m., dispatchers received calls reporting a car on fire inside a garage near the intersection of Cactus Avenue and Jones Boulevard in the south Las Vegas valley.

Fire officials said first responders arrived to find smoke and flames emerging from the garage of a three-story home. They used hose lines to extinguish the flames, with a total of 33 firefighters responding to control and suppress the fire.

Once the flames were under control, firefighters searched the home. According to fire officials, no injuries were reported to residents or firefighters, but the fire killed six cats and resulted in an estimated $100,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
