LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — From Boulder City to Downtown Las Vegas, local businesses were offering special deals Saturday and through Sunday for Small Business Saturday.
Step into any of Container Park’s repurposed shipping containers for the first time and you may get a surprise from goods like trinkets and baubles from the latest trends to vintage videogames and clothing.
For some Small Business Saturday shoppers, Saturday was their first time coming in to those stores, which owners like Ray Villalobos say is always a good time.
“Oh, it’s great, because, you know, a lot of times they don’t really know about us and so they get a unique shopping experience,” Villalobos said.
Those unique experiences bringing customers into various stores like Ericka Gonzalez’s Shop Mama Sage, which sells trendy gifts.
“We definitely get a lot more customers come in during small business weekend,” Gonzalez said. “We had a girl here earlier who bought a bunch of stuff, and she was a local and she just wanted to come out and support other small shops.”
Small business owners told 8 News Now that shopping small isn’t just about boosting the local economy, but also supporting your neighbors.
City officials also stepped in to help this weekend, according to Container Park’s general manager James Gonzales.
“The city has been able to grace us with free metered parking on the street, which is pretty awesome,” Gonzales said.
Also, some family fun at the park like face painting and visits with Santa while shops and restaurants offer deals and discounts.
“They look forward to it. They know it’s their day and the hard work they put in, and it’s just their day to shine,” Gonzales said.
Container Park’s Small Business Saturday deals will continue through closing time on Sunday. Santa will be at the park from 12-4 p.m. There will be a screening of Polar Express at 5 p.m.
