Seems like a good time to update the Just Testing Posting Photos thread.

This is a great place to experiment with posting photos, especially before you do a live Trip Report.

First, here is a quick tutorial on how to post an image on VMB:

Attach an Existing Photo from the Internet:

To include a photo from another site on the internet, click on the Image Icon on top of the reply box.

This will bring up a box where you can enter the URL of an image already on the internet.

Please note: You need to include the URL to the actual image. There are often problems with people sharing Google Photos and some other photo sharing sites as the link they give you to share is an HTML page and not the actual image location.

Please send me a PM if you need help with this.

How to Upload a Photo from your Computer/Device:

This is the method we recommend and that most VMBers use to post photos on VMB.

To include photos in your post, look at the bottom of the reply box for the button “Upload a File”.

This will open a browser window on your current device where you can select a photo or photos to include in your post.

Once uploaded, you can select Thumbnail or Full Image. We recommend Full Image.

If you have multiple images, you can include them all at once by selecting Full Image at the top where it says “Insert every image as a..” This will put all the photos wherever your cursor is in the reply box.

You can also select them individually below to place them inline in your text. Just place your cursor and select Thumbnail or Full Image.

The uploaded photos are saved as attachments here on our server. The software resizes them to a maximum of 2000×2000 pixels, and will not accept a photo file larger than 15240kb (just under 15mb). This should be plenty large enough, unless you are using super high resolution settings on your camera or phone.

That’s all there is too it. Be sure to let me know here or in PM if you’re having problems posting photos to the board.
