LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Some local family-owned small businesses are gearing up for National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day on Saturday, March 29. It’s a day to celebrate some of the unique customer experiences that larger retailers can’t replicate.
Two such stores located in the Arts District are bringing some creativity and fun to the community.
Spilled Milk is a home decor shop owned by Kori Cortez. She opened the shop a little more than a year ago. Spilled Milk is packed with unique finds, from candles and paintings to local artisan pottery items. The place also features plants and will be hosting a Planty Hour over the weekend, where people can purchase a plant or a pot, or both, and get the plant potted for free. You can also bring your own plant to have it put in a new pot.
From home decor to rolling in style, Fresa’s Skate Shop offers fun on wheels. Fresa’s is owned by Amanda Quintanilla. During the pandemic, Amanda left the corporate world and opened her skate shop.
Whether you’re looking for roller skates, blades or boards, Fresa’s has everything you need. And if you don’t have your own wheels, you can rent roller skates or rollerblades from the shop. The shop can be followed on Instagram @freshasskateshop
Small businesses are a vital part of the economy. March 29 is a day when consumers can show their support by shopping locally at small businesses.
