LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The Federal Bureau of Investigations in Las Vegas is asking the public to look out for suspicious activity in areas where Tesla dealerships or Tesla-related entities are located.
The announcement was made on Friday and comes days after Las Vegas police and the FBI investigated a fire involving several vehicles at a Tesla collision center in the southwest valley as a possible terrorist attack. Tuesday’s fire investigation was one of several recent nationwide incidents targeting Tesla dealerships, storage lots, and charging stations since January.
“These incidents have involved arson, gunfire, and vandalism, including graffiti expressing grievances against those the perpetrators perceive to be racists, fascists, or political opponents. These criminal actions appear to have been conducted by lone offenders, and all known incidents occurred at night,” the FBI stated.
The agency also included several examples of potential threat activity the public should be on the lookout for, including, violent threats online referencing specific Tesla properties, photos of security-related equipment or personnel at Tesla dealerships, unusual surveillance or interest in Tesla-related entities, attempts to gain access to restricted Tesla-related properties, and inquiring or examining security measures at Tesla dealerships.
“Individuals require little planning to use rudimentary tactics, such as improvised incendiary devices and firearms, and may perceive these attacks as victimless property crimes,” the FBI stated in its release on Friday.
The FBI urged the public to contact local law enforcement or 911 if they notice anything suspicious.
