LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Formula 1 is two weeks away and it’s hard not to notice all the work that’s been done on and near the Las Vegas Strip. However, while valley drivers are trying to get around the best they can, it can still be difficult to navigate.
A temporary bridge built a couple of weeks ago aimed to help alleviate some of the F1 construction is causing some confusion to many valley drivers.
“It’s really confusing, and I have to make a bunch of U-turns. Luckily, I haven’t seen any accidents but you can tell that when people approach the bridge area they don’t know which way to go,” rideshare driver, Ilias Khan said.
Jose Bonilla works near the Cosmopolitan and said he has to leave home two hours earlier than usual just to get to work on time.
“A lot of the time, it’s confusing to know which side to go to since there aren’t any signs explaining, so it’s a cluster,” Bonilla said.
F1 officials noted that last year’s design of the bridge caused some issues for drivers so this year they made some changes by reducing the size and width by 50%.
Rideshare driver, John Leclere said though there still is a lot of traffic, the roads are better than they were last year and to him, the bridge is easier to get through.
“Last year, there were four lanes and now it’s two so it’s less congested and there’s less construction,” he shared.
F1 officials said the bridge is scheduled to come down in mid-December.
