LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix wrapped up a few weeks ago however, the teardown process will continue to cause major delays for drivers.

“Can we just be done? It’s taken me over thirty minutes to get from my house and it’s a 10 minute drive,” driver, Michelle Southern shared with 8 News Now.

Whether you live, work, or frequent the area of Koval Lane and Flamingo Road, Formula 1 construction impacted many commuters this year. Now that F1 is over, the deconstruction process will begin.

“It’s been annoying. I live at the Meridian and it’s the worst thing in the world trying to get home through here,” driver, Matt Katschka said.

Due to the dismantling of the F1 bridge, RTC bus route 119 along Koval will be closed starting Sunday. Those who take bus route 202 can expect closures all along Flamingo starting at Las Vegas Boulevard to Paradise Road.

While many drivers are bothered, several shared with 8 News Now that seeing orange cones and detour signs everywhere is the norm for them in Las Vegas.

“It’s never ending. I’ve been here for two years and I feel like there is no relief,” Southern added.

Commuter Scott Ritter told 8 News Now that he is not letting the traffic and congestion get him down as he drives along Flamingo and Koval daily.

“This is my main route in and out so I find plan B and go with it and I leave a little earlier,” Ritter shared.

He said that this year’s construction and now deconstruction from the race seemed to of flowed a lot better than the year prior.

“This year was a lot easier and it seems like coming down is a lot simpler too. I’m a Formula 1 fan so I’m happy to see it come down quicker than it did last year,” he added.

The Flamingo Bridge dismantling process is set to begin Sunday, Dec. 15, and is set to last until Saturday, Dec. 21. For a full list of detours and alternate routes, click here.
